Blockchain-Powered Climate Data Project
WeatherSV was a pioneering project launched in 2019 that recorded high-quality weather and climate data directly onto the Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain.
It allowed users to fund "weather channels" for a small fee, enabling thousands of weather stations worldwide to publish tamper-proof, hourly weather data.
The project aimed to create a transparent, immutable, and verifiable global source of climate data. By storing weather data on the blockchain, it sought to improve data integrity, enable new business models, support agriculture, scientific research, and public climate discussions.
The WeatherSV project and website are currently on hold for the foreseeable future.
We are pausing active development while we explore new directions.
We hope to revive the project in the future and welcome serious discussions regarding funding, partnerships, or collaboration to help bring the next version of the project to life.
